Thanks to the socialist state I have four weeks of vacation coming up, starting next week. I need it. Hopefully The Planning Lab will come out more refreshed and inspiring after the summer. Right now things are a bit tired.

There can be no experts

Social media is great for talking about, well – social media. But as I'm sick of all the self-proclaimed social media experts, tweets and slideshare presentations with social media strategies, I don't think you can discount it as a passing trend. Social media IS important. But it's also an evolving concept, and trying to "fix" the knowledge of the phenomenon as definite truths is pointless. I believe discussions on social media should be seen as a flows rather than stock knowledge.

Of agency websites and such

Agency websites is probably the most navel-gazing phenomena in the industry. You gotta love them though, because it's unbelievable how much time, mental effort and frustration that are invested in these (with varying results I might add). Crispin Porter has launched a new site today, and so has Jung von Matt in Germany. What's sort of cool is that the latter is also formatted for iPhone.
